Go Slow with Dr. Low

Almost everyone I've met with over the last week has been struggling with living in the truth, walking in the light and obeying God's wisdom.  They are feeling stuck in lies, heavy with darkness and burdened with weakness and insecurities.  They are hoping their faith will lift them out of the dark valley but even in the Bible faith does not always guarantee this type of deliverance.  For example, Psalm 23 indicates God is with us when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death; it does not say He necessarily lifts us out of the valley even though He sometimes does.

When we fall into one of these negative times the dark talk flies at us a million miles a minute.  Because of the speed and volume of these negative voices the only defense is to slow down and listen to the truth.  God's truth does not always scream at us as quickly or loudly as the negative talk; it doesn't have to because it is stronger than that - like that strong, mature person you admire who states their words boldly and clearly without throwing a tantrum.  Hearing these words, especially if we're feeling low, requires turning our attention towards His voice and listening.  And then, of course, after listening comes embracing and acting - obedience - but we have to hear it first.
