If you had 15 minutes to talk to parents and teenagers about living out their faith in today's world, what would you say to them?
How would you take your years of experience and sum it up in 15 minutes? What topics would you cover? What passages of scripture would you use to communicate your heart felt desire to these students and parents? Would you be funny or serious in your presentation? Would you use visuals (Keynote/PowerPoint)?
Would your topics include:
- texting
- social media
- culture
- biblical lesson or point
- parenting do's & don'ts
- how to share who Jesus is with their friends
- how to read their bible
- share a personal story
- give them something to take home
So what would you do if you were given 15 minutes to talk to parents and teenagers about living out their faith in today's world?

The Gospel is being so poorly presented in a great part of the Churches today that I would of necessity use my 15 minutes to be sure that they have actually heard a saving Gospel message.
It is a waste of time to attempt to clean up a corpse (the unregenerate), to teach them how to use social media to the glory of God, how to parent, evangelize, or how to read their Bibles.
I would help them to test themselves against the Ten Commandments so that they could see themselves as God sees them. (as lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterers at heart (Matt 5:27, 28) murderers at heart, etc.)(Matt 5:21,22 and 1John 3:15)
Then I would share with them what God did so that He wouldn't have to give them the Hell that they deserve for breaking His laws.
How they broke God's laws but Jesus paid they're fine in His life's blood.
How the wrath of God was poured out on Jesus when it should have been poured out on them and myself.
And then I will tell them about what God requires of them. Repentance and Faith.
Turning 180 degrees from being the boss of their own life to submission and a willing obedience to God. And to take God at His word that He paid the price to rescue them from His just wrath.
Wow…awesome response from comeinfromtherain! I have to agree. 15 minutes is a short amount of time so the best thing to use it for is on the Best Thing.
As the apostle Paul said in 1Corinthians 2:2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
We have to remember that our heart felt desires are still sin stained as are our thoughts, words and deeds. It is God’s Word that is true. The most loving thing we can do for our family and friends who are not saved is to straight up show them from God’s word that we are sinful, using the Law as the schoolmaster to bring them to Christ (Gal.3:24) and that they will have to stand before God when we die (Heb 9:27). And that is why we all need the only Redeemer Jesus Christ. Death is most often such a shock to people and even more so when a young person dies suddenly. We as Christians must have the Gospel in our hearts and on our lips to tell all about our Saviour.
